If you’re having trouble pairing your Firestick remote, there are a few steps you can try.
Battery issues can cause pairing issues for many users.
Make sure the batteries in your remote are correctly inserted. If not, you may need to replace them.
Connect the Firestick to your TV
The Firestick is an advanced device that offers access to Prime Video, Netflix and other streaming services. Additionally, it provides internet browsing capabilities which let you watch movies and other content from any location around the world.
To get your Fire Stick up and running, you will need to connect it to a TV with an HDMI port. These can usually be found on the back or sides of your television set. Alternatively, you could plug it into a converter for optimal signal quality.
Once connected to your TV, you can begin watching shows and movies on the Firestick. You can also stream music from Amazon’s app directly onto your television screen.
To enable remote control of your Firestick, you will first need to pair it with your TV remote. This process usually occurs during initial set up of the device but can be completed at any time.
Before pairing your TV remote with Firestick, make sure they’re both connected via Wi-Fi. This is essential so that both devices can sync together and be controlled without having to move them around.
Fortunately, this task can be easily achieved. All that’s necessary is a compatible TV that supports HDMI CEC (Current Eraser Code) support. If your television does not already offer this feature, then you will need to invest in an adapter compatible with the feature.
Now you will need to turn on your TV and select the HDMI input you used for connecting your Fire Stick. You can do this either with your remote or by going into Settings on your Fire Stick and selecting Network under Network options.
After pressing and holding the Home button on your remote for 10 seconds, its LED light should begin blinking. After this is done, your television should recognize the remote as a menu option when it appears onscreen.
Press and hold the Home button on the remote
If you own a Fire Stick remote, pairing it with your TV is easy. Just press and hold the Home button on the remote for at least 10 seconds for it to recognize it – this may take several attempts but usually works.
If your Firestick remote isn’t working, the first thing to check is its batteries. Improperly inserted or low-charged batteries can cause it to stop working. Also, double check that all direction marks on the remote are facing in the correct direction.
To double-check if your Firestick remote is connected to your TV, try pairing it again.
You can do this by going to Settings on your Fire TV and selecting Controllers & Bluetooth Devices. Then select Amazon Fire TV Remotes and add your new remote.
Another option is to use a different Firestick remote. Our team advises pairing any Fire Stick remote, but make sure it’s compatible with your TV.
However, it’s best to avoid trying this with a non-Firestick TV remote as the remote may not be recognized by your television.
Alternately, you can try reseting your Fire Stick remote. Doing so will erase the current connection between your TV and remote, allowing it to connect again.
If the above steps don’t solve your problems, reach out to Amazon support for assistance. They can offer some additional suggestions and assist in diagnosing what’s wrong with your Fire Stick remote.
Before reaching out to Amazon, make sure the remote is within range of your TV. Otherwise, pairing may not be successful.
Pressing either the microphone or Alexa button on your remote activates the voice assistant on your Fire Stick, bringing up an Alexa shortcut panel on your TV screen with access to various smart home controls, weather forecasts, “My Stuff” tab on Fire Stick and more. While the list of items available in this panel changes over time, it remains a handy way of quickly getting content you use frequently.
Wait for 20 seconds
To pair your Firestick remote, be patient and persistent. It may take multiple attempts before it works, but once it does, a box will appear on your TV screen to indicate that the remote has now been connected.
To pair your remote, press and hold the Home button for 20 seconds while pointing it directly at your TV. After 20 seconds, the remote should begin blinking rapidly and you should see a “Remote Connected” message appear on your television screen.
If the problem persists, try power cycling both your TV and Firestick device. This should usually reset both the device and network settings.
Additionally, you can remove the batteries from your remote and unplug it from both your TV and power source before trying to pair it again. Doing this usually solves the issue, especially if it has been some time since you last changed its batteries.
Some people have had success pressing and holding both the left and menu buttons on their remote for several seconds. While this may not always be the optimal solution, it has been known to work in the past.
You can also try taking the batteries out and disconnecting your Firestick from both your TV and power cable before trying to pair it again. After some time has passed, reinsert the batteries and plugging the device back into both its original source (TV) and power source (power cord) before trying again to unpair.
After trying all these solutions, if the blue light on your remote still flashes after a full reset has not worked, it may be time for a factory reset. You can do this using either Amazon Fire TV app on mobile device or by pressing and holding both Home and Select buttons simultaneously for 40-60 seconds.
Once you’ve done this, your remote should stop flashing the blue light and begin working with your Firestick again. If not, you can try unpair of your remote using either the Fire TV app or by pressing and holding both Home and select buttons for 40-60 seconds.
Release the Home button
When pairing your remote, you may have to press and hold the Home button several times before success. Eventually, you should see a message on your television saying “Remote Connected.”
Once paired, you can use it to control your Fire Stick or other devices. Alternatively, the Home button on the remote lets you quickly return to your TV or Stick’s home page from any app.
The Home button on your Firestick remote can be used for accessing menus and viewing settings for your Fire TV or Stick. It may also be programmed to launch an application or watch a movie.
Pairing your remote with your television requires unplugging it from the wall and waiting for 60 seconds. This will reset the device, usually allowing pairing to occur after this period has elapsed.
After trying these steps, if the remote still won’t pair after power cycling both devices and your TV, try power cycling them both again. This should reset both devices and your network connection, which could be what’s causing the issue.
Another option you have is to reset your remote using the buttons on your device itself. If you don’t have a spare remote handy, this could be an ideal solution.
Depending on which model of Firestick remote you own, there may be different steps to take. For non-voice remotes (with no volume and power buttons), hold down the Home button for nine seconds while pressing and holding Menu twice.
For the original Alexa Voice remotes, press and hold the Left button and Menu button for 12 seconds. If you have the newer Alexa Voice Remote Lite, simply press and hold the Home button for 10 seconds.
These steps will not only reset your remote, but they will also delete any data or applications loaded onto your Firestick. Although this can be a tedious process, it’s the best option if your remote isn’t functioning properly.
