If you’ve misplaced the remote for your Vizio TV, there is still a way to connect it to your WiFi network. While this method may not be ideal, giving it a try may be worth trying!
Thankfully, it’s relatively straightforward. All you have to do is follow a few easy steps.
1. Connect the TV to the Internet
More and more people are opting for smart TVs, which can access the Internet and install applications to enhance their functionality. Unfortunately, if you lose your remote control, connecting to the Internet without it may prove challenging.
One way to connect your TV to the internet is via WiFi. This will let you link it directly to a home network and stream content from various sources, like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
If your TV is having difficulty connecting to Wi-Fi, try connecting it via wired connection instead. This may improve the speed and quality of streaming video content from your device.
Another alternative is using a mobile hotspot on your smartphone. This will enable your TV to utilize the internet connection of your phone as a router, sharing its connection with other devices within range. However, first set up the hotspot on your phone and then enable it when connecting it to your television.
Your television will remember the Wi-Fi connection you made the last time you used it. To alter this setting, use your remote to locate Menu > Network Settings and then Set Up a New Connection. This will prompt you to enter both your wireless network name and password.
Some Smart TVs can also be controlled with a USB keyboard and mouse. To verify if your television supports this, connect the keyboard and mouse to its USB ports and see if it detects them.

2. Connect the TV to the Router
Smart TVs have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their capacity for connecting to the Internet and downloading applications that enhance the viewing experience. Unfortunately, sometimes you may need to connect the TV directly to a router without using a remote, which could prove challenging if you are unfamiliar with the setup process.
The initial step is to confirm your TV has a wireless connection. You can do this by pressing either a special button on the remote or selecting from within the menus of your television.
Modern TVs are typically designed to connect to a wireless home network, though some models lack this capability. If this applies to you, using a Wi-Fi adapter can be used to link your television to your wireless internet.
Another option for connecting your TV to the router is via HDMI cable. This will allow it to directly connect with the modem or router and offer much faster speed than a wireless connection can offer.
You can also use a Wi-Fi extender to boost the signal strength of your TV’s Wi-Fi connection. This may help improve performance if your router and television are located far apart.
One final option for connecting your TV to the router is via Ethernet cable. This method is commonly used with streaming devices like Chromecast or Roku, but it could also work if your television lacks an HDMI port.
Once connected to your router, you can now watch movies, TV shows and other content on the device. Furthermore, you can use your TV as a remote control for other devices on your network like computers and smartphones.
Some smart TVs will automatically search for WiFi networks nearby and connect to them when turned on. This is a great feature to have, as it simplifies setting up your television and the apps on it.
You can set up your TV to connect to the Internet by downloading an app from its manufacturer. Most of these applications come with a tutorial on how to get online, which you can usually find either on their website or through the app store.
3. Connect the TV to the Switch
If you don’t have a remote for your Vizio TV, there are two ways to connect it to your home WiFi network. One method involves using an adapter cord that goes directly between the television and router; alternatively, you could use a universal remote designed specifically for Vizio televisions.
First, confirm your Vizio TV has an Ethernet port on the back – most models do. Furthermore, look for physical menu buttons on either side or back of the television.
Once you’ve located an ethernet port on your TV, plug one end of an ethernet cable into the port on the back and the other into your router. Wait a few seconds for your television to connect to the internet this way.

4. Connect the TV to the Computer
There are two ways to connect your Vizio TV to WiFi without using a remote. The first method involves using a USB mouse. This will grant you access to the user interface and let you navigate directly into settings.
Furthermore, you can use an ethernet cable to connect your TV to a router. This method is the quickest and most convenient way of getting your television online.
First, determine if your Vizio TV has an Ethernet port at the back. Generally, this port should be located near other ports on the back and should be easily visible.
Next, you need an ethernet cord long enough to reach from your router to the port on your TV. Make sure it has some slack at the end so it can stretch between both devices.
Once you have a cable compatible with your television, plug one end into the ethernet port on the television and the other into your Wi-Fi router. Your television should recognize this connection automatically and begin scanning for wireless networks.

If you don’t have access to a mouse or keyboard, an IR Blaster app on your phone may work instead. Most Android phones offer this feature, though not all iPhones do as well.
Luckily, Vizio TV remote app can be easily downloaded free from either the App Store or Google Play Store. All that’s required to do is download the app and request to connect via this app.
Once your Vizio TV connects to the network, you can begin streaming content or using apps on it. This should take only a few minutes and be completed quickly and conveniently.
If your television still won’t connect to your WiFi network, try turning off the television for a few seconds and then turning it back on again. This should help reset the connection and make everything work again.
